With the holidays coming, American Airlines is in a tight spot and they’re cutting costs across the board. This includes their generous pay to flight attendants who just might be willing to show up for work during the busiest season of travel. If you’ve been thinking about traveling this holiday season, now might finally be your chance!

The “flight attendant american airlines salary” is the average annual salary of a flight attendant. American Airlines are giving their flight attendants up to 300% pay for the holidays.

For showing up for the holidays, American Airlines will pay flight attendants up to 300 percent of their normal pay.

At the end of October, American Airlines went bankrupt due to a lack of cabin personnel. This came after a collapse in June due to a shortage of Boeing 737 pilots. United Airlines sent out an email to all of its customers, slamming them and recommending that they fly United for the holidays.

American Airlines is pouring money at the issue in order to avoid a repetition of the October flight attendant disaster (err, at the flight attendants).

For sequences (greater of planned or actual time flown) that the Lineholder actually flies on any day during the following Holiday Peak Periods, Lineholders will earn 150 percent pay (100 percent credit, 50 percent pay no credit):

  • From November 23, 2021, to November 29, 2021, and from November 23, 2021, to November 29, 2021, and from November 23, 2021
  • The dates are December 22, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

Lineholders and Reserves with a schedule who have no absences/removals from November 15 to January 2, 2022, will get an extra 150 percent pay for hours flown (including standby) on any day during the Holiday Peak Periods (November 23-November 29, and December 22-January 2).

Furthermore, and maybe most importantly for dependability, American will provide crews with verified space to fly to the commencement of their journeys. Too many flights have been canceled owing to a crew shortage because crew members were unable to fly to their assigned trip on American Airlines – sometimes because itineraries were modified at the last minute and crew were standing by for flights after nonrevs had already been allowed onboard aircraft for leisure.

Taking revenue tickets to fly staff during busy holiday seasons, when flights are likely to sell out, is costly, but so is canceling flights.

The Company will provide inbound Positive Space (A12) travel on American Airlines mainline, PSA, Piedmont, and Envoy to Commuters scheduled to fly a sequence/standby shift from the Commuter’s home to the Commuter’s Base for the purpose of operating the awarded/assigned sequence or standby shift for sequences that originate during the Holiday Peak Day Period.

Additionally, during your first and/or final planned Reserve Availability Period (RAP) in your reserve block that starts or ends during a Holiday Peak Period, you may request positive space travel.

These changes should encourage crew to take up more shifts, refrain from calling in ill for shifts when they would rather not work, and make it easy to reach their destinations in the first place, all of which should assist produce a dependable operation.

Other job groups earn Christmas bonuses as well — this is going to be costly.

It also highlights how badly American managed its personnel, failing to ‘keep everyone on staff and ready to fly once consumers returned’ and rebuilding their schedules, which was the aim of the $10 billion in direct federal funds they were granted. At the very least, they’re spending some of the money from Payroll Support 2 and 3 on more employees (because the majority of the money went to payroll expenditures they’d have spent otherwise, thereby subsidizing shareholders and creditors).
