New hotel opening in Dubai is the first of its kind to use blockchain. Designed for cryptocurrency acceptance, it is not surprising that Atlantis has seen an uptick in business since opening on April 17th.

With tourism on the upswing in Dubai and rigorous pandemic measures in place, Atlantis, The Palm has seen a surge in tourist demand since January and building up to the Christmas season, according to Linda Abdul Hay, senior director of public relations and communications at Atlantis Dubai.
“We never ceased improving the resort throughout the epidemic, respecting our pledge to our guests that there would always be something fresh to enjoy when they come to visit us,” she stated. “While local staycations helped us tremendously in 2021, our foreign markets remain diversified, with visitors from over 80 different nations visiting us every day, and we are cautiously confident that tourism will continue to rise in 2022.”

Expo 2020, which was postponed last year and will run from Oct. 1 to March 31, 2022, is expected to boost the resort’s passenger numbers. In all, the festival features 190 nations, over 200 ethnic eateries, and a plethora of daily arts and cultural performances.
“This is a tremendous driver for travel to Dubai, and we’ve had a lot of interest in our Expo 2020 packages, which include free tickets to the biggest show on earth for visitors who spend five nights or more in one of our guestrooms or Imperial Club Rooms,” Hay added.
In the end, the 1,539-room Atlantis, The Palm has a lot to recommend it. “The building’s form is undeniably recognizable across the world,” she remarked. “Sun-kissed spires, Moorish archways, Arabian-inspired lights, and palm-shaped pillars are woven together with elements of classic Middle Eastern vernacular architecture to reflect the spirit of the lost metropolis of Atlantis.”
The rooms and suites at the resort are quite unique. “The most well-known suites are the legendary Underwater Suites, which are a popular choice for honeymooners and celebrities looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” she said. “The master bedroom’s floor-to-ceiling views stare right into The Ambassador Lagoon, giving the impression of being under the water.”
The Lost Chambers Aquarium and The Ambassador Lagoon are both located in Atlantis, The Palm, and are open to all visitors for free. More than 250 species and 65,000 marine creatures may be found in the aquarium and lagoon together.
According to Hay, the resort also includes the Aquaventure Waterpark, which was enlarged in March 2021, making it the world’s biggest waterpark. “With the addition of the brand-new Trident Tower, Splashers Lagoon, and Splashers Cove, Aquaventure now has over 105 slides, rides, and attractions spread over the 22.5-hectare park.”
There are also 35 restaurants, bars, and lounges on the Palm, as well as a variety of boutiques and stores, as well as wellness facilities.

With 795 rooms and a residential component, Atlantis, The Royal Resort & Residences is set to open next year next to Atlantis, The Palm.
“The design of Atlantis, The Royal rethinks the traditional notion of the ‘iconic tower,’ focusing on the extension of the idea of indoor-outdoor life,” Hay said. “This notion has been translated vertically into a 600-meter-long, 178-meter-tall megastructure, conceived as a ‘deconstruction’ of Dubai’s classic sculptural skyscrapers.”
It will have a sky pool, 18 restaurants, and a lobby with 4,000 jellyfish in one of the world’s biggest jellyfish tanks, among other amenities.
In other news, Atlantis, the Palm has partnered with Atlas Project to launch a long-term sustainability program. “We’re working to decrease our carbon footprint, assist nature and animal protection, and become a socially and ecologically responsible tourist destination,” Hay added.
“Atlantis, The Palm is now home to over 65,000 marine creatures, for whom we offer the greatest levels of animal care and are dedicated to cooperating with partners to help marine conservation and education.”
A shark release program and a UAE Dolphin Survey to examine and monitor local dolphin populations are two recent efforts. Atlantis The Palm is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and was the first institution in the Middle East to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
At the end of the day, Hay expressed her optimism for the future. “We’re looking forward to a successful conclusion to a hard year and to welcoming passengers who are eager to travel again.”
