The Norwegian Escape has resumed operations after a fire on board caused the ship to be evacuated.
The norwegian cruise line cancellations 2021 is the fifth Norwegian Cruise Line ship to resume operations after suffering engine problems.
When Norwegian Getaway sailed from Civitavecchia, Italy, on September 13, she became the sixth Norwegian Cruise Line ship to begin service. The ship is also NCL’s third to cruise the Mediterranean.
Norwegian Getaway Reopens for Business
Norwegian Getaway finally got the opportunity to resume operations last week after more than 500 days without passengers when she cruised around the Mediterranean with a limited group of dignitaries, travel agencies, and other invited guests on a test voyage. This test cruise was conducted by NCL to verify that all of the cruise line’s onboard procedures and precautions were functioning properly.
The ship’s departure on September 13 marks the ship’s first official “revenue” voyage. Norwegian Getaway is traveling on a ten-day route between Italy, Croatia, and the Greek islands from her homeport of Civitavecchia, near Rome, Italy.
Dubrovnik, Corfu, Katakolon, Santorini, Mykonos, Naples, and Livorno will be visited on the ten-day cruise before returning to Civitavecchia.

The itinerary will be somewhat altered beginning in late October to include ports in Israel, such as Ashdod and Haifa, as well as Limassol, Cyprus, and Kusadasi, Turkey, with the ship’s homeport remaining in Athens.
The 3,963-passenger Norwegian Getaway, with a gross tonnage of 145,655, will continue to cruise the Mediterranean until December, when she will start on her epic transatlantic journey. The ship will set sail from Rome on December 5 on a 17-day voyage that will take her to Barcelona, Valencia, the Azores’ Ponta Delgada, and Bermuda, before arriving in Miami on December 22 just before Christmas.
On Norwegian ships, safety comes first.
When speaking to L’agenzia di Viaggi on the ship’s test trip this week, Eamonn Ferrin, vice president of international business for Norwegian Cruise Line, emphasized on the health standards the firm had successfully adopted fleetwide:
“After 500 days, we are finally back on the water, and we are now adding the fifth ship. Only vaccinated personnel, crew, and guests are allowed on board, according to our policy. The quick swab must be completed before to boarding at the terminal, and you may only embark after obtaining a negative test result. Passengers describe their trip as “the safest holiday in the world” because of the emphasis on safety.

Norwegian Cruise Line has gone to great lengths to ensure that passengers enjoy the safest possible experience while aboard. Not only must every passenger be properly vaccinated before boarding, but they will also be subjected to further testing.

Due to these stringent standards, Norwegian is able to provide a cruise experience that is as close to normal as possible. All NCL sailings are mask-free, with no social barriers, capacity limitations, or restrictions on access to restaurants, shore visits, spas, water slides, and other amenities.
The NCL is making a comeback.
In recent weeks and months, Norwegian Cruise Line has gradually increased the number of ships in its fleet. Despite having a later start than Royal Caribbean and Carnival Corporation, NCL currently has five ships in the water.
In the Mediterranean, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Epic, and now Norwegian Getaway are all operating. Norwegian Encore is presently traveling between Seattle and Alaska, while Norwegian Gem was the company’s first ship to depart from Miami.
Norwegian Breakaway will depart from New York City on September 26, Norwegian Bliss from Los Angeles on October 24, and Norwegian Escape from Port Canaveral on November 13 in the coming weeks and months.
