Royal Caribbean International is updating its protocols for the first half of October, following the announcement that Hurricane Maria has been downgraded to a tropical storm.
Royal Caribbean has updated its protocols for early October cruises. This update is to help with the high volume of passengers that are expected to be on board. Read more in detail here: royal caribbean cruise cancellations 2021.
Royal Caribbean International has revised its health and safety standards for cruises departing from US ports.
These rules and regulations will apply to sailings taking place between October 1 and October 15, 2021.
Guests who do not wish to follow the rules may cancel their reservation and get a full refund or reschedule their cruise to a later date.

Vaccination
To board, all passengers aged 12 and above must provide evidence of immunization, such as a CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card. At least 14 days before the sail date, the last dosage of the vaccination must be finished.
Testing
Vaccinated passengers aged 12 and above must show a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test result obtained within two days of the sailing’s departure date.
Travelers may purchase their pre-cruise test kit with an at-home antigen test at royalcaribbean.com/hometestkit, which will be delivered to their door anywhere in the United States in three business days or fewer.
With live video supervision by a Certified Guide, results are available in 15 minutes.
Unvaccinated children between the ages of 2 and 11 must show a negative PCR test result obtained no more than three days before to sailing. For children, the at-home exam is not acceptable.
To sail, you’ll need proper evidence from an authorized laboratory (printed negative test results or negative test findings provided on a smartphone). The visitor is responsible for any expenses associated with the exam.
Kids will be asked to undergo another PCR test at the terminal during check-in, in addition to the pre-cruise test. This test is completely free.
On cruises lasting five nights or longer, children must take an antigen test onboard within 24 hours of the cruise’s conclusion. This test is also without charge.
Babies and toddlers under the age of two will not need any testing.

Guidance for Masks
For all passengers aged two and above, here is Royal Caribbean’s latest mask advice.
No masks are required:
- Unless in a congested environment, in open-air sections of the ship
- In the pool or any other activity in which they may get wet
- Only vaccinated visitors are allowed in some pubs, clubs, restaurants, and theaters.
- In the waiting room
Masks must be worn:
- Unless sitting and eating or drinking, inside in public places
- When visiting public ports of call where local laws may necessitate it
Dining
There will be specific sections in the main dining rooms for parents with unvaccinated children and places for vaccinated visitors exclusively. Only fully vaccinated groups will be allowed to dine at My Time Dining.
Some specialized eateries will be accessible to the general public, while others will be reserved for passengers who have been vaccinated.
