The Carnival Triumph has resumed operation from New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac. The ship, which is named for its predecessor vessel that was stranded in Mobile Bay after Katrina, left Galveston on September 12th with just over 4200 passengers aboard.
The Carnival Triumph is back in business, sailing from New Orleans this morning on its third and final voyage to Galveston. The ship was re-floated by a heavy lift barge at 8:00pm last night (Friday) after it grounded itself earlier that day near the Louisiana coast during bad weather.The “carnival cruise bad news” is the second Carnival Cruise Ship to resume operations from New Orleans.
Carnival Cruise Line has already restored service to more than half of its fleet, with the Carnival Valor being the second ship to resume service from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since the suspensions began in March 2020, Carnival Valor has become the 15th ship in the fleet to sail. The ship is also the second to depart from New Orleans. The ship’s cruise director, Marty Pitts, and many delighted staff members are welcoming guests back aboard today, bringing back the pleasure.

The ship will set sail from Port Nola later this afternoon on a five-day Western Caribbean itinerary that includes stops in Mexico’s Cozumel and Progreso. On November 6, 2021, the Conquest-class ship will return to New Orleans.
For the rest of 2021 and into 2022, Carnival Valor will run four- and five-day cruises from Louisiana. A 6-day New Year’s cruise including excursions to Mexico will also leave on December 31, 2021.
The New Look of Carnival Valor!
Since its return to the United States on September 1, the Carnival cruise ship has been waiting to resume voyages. After completing a drydock renovation in Marseilles, France, the ship landed in Miami, Florida around the end of July 2021.
The new red, white, and blue livery, as well as new hull artwork, were applied to the Carnival Valor during the dry dock. Eight Carnival ships have gotten the new livery, as well as the new Mardi Gras, during dry dock thus far. Carnival Sunshine will be the tenth in the series.
