The Travel Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides educational resources for travel agents. They have seen an increase in the number of new applications that seek to train agents on cutting-edge technologies like blockchain.
The travel agent training free is a new trend in the travel industry. Companies are now using mobile applications to train their agents.
The number of applications to the Travel Institute’s agent training programs has increased dramatically.
The institution has witnessed a 36 percent rise in applications for its TRIPKIT introductory training program year over year. New students include teachers, nurses, and people working in other travel-related professions, indicating that travel advisor positions are still in demand despite shifting demand and changing industry standards.
The surge coincides with recent studies indicating that passengers are growing more dependent on travel agents.
While interest in the profession rises, new agent education enrollment must also expand throughout the industry, according to Diane Petras, CTIE, president of The Travel Institute.
What’s Hot Right Now
“As passengers consider their travel choices, travel agents have a unique opportunity to assist clients in making selections that will allow them to travel safely and comfortably. Since the introduction of online research and self-booking tools, I cannot recall a moment or opportunity when customers desired or required professional assistance from our agents more,” she added.
Petras said the Travel Institute’s training was the gold standard in agent education and training, and that it included the Travel Agent Proficiency, or TAP, test to ensure students demonstrated knowledge of travel industry fundamentals as they prepared to serve passengers.
“To serve travelers well and have a successful career in travel, new and inexperienced agents need both a solid understanding of industry basics and dynamics as well as a flexible mindset,” she explained, citing the industry’s continued evolving response around booking patterns and policies, covid-related procedures, available amenities, government restrictions, insurance, safe destinations, and resources.
TRIPKIT Online is a one-year college program that incorporates real-world agent experiences and teaches industry vocabulary, as well as important aspects of travel like as air and ground transportation, lodging, excursions, and more. Cruises, marketing, geography, and tips for running a successful independent contractor company are all covered in this course.
TRIPKIT has just been updated to go from a hybrid online/print learning approach to a completely online learning format with a new interactive, self-paced study plan that provides a genuinely immersive and flexible learning experience.
“Whether you’re new to the business, a management seeking for new agent training, or a supplier wanting to educate contact center employees, broad-based, fundamental industry education should always be the first step,” said Guida Botelho, CTIE, director of training for The Travel Institute.
A free New to the Business webinar is available, which offers a sneak look inside the course, an overview of new agent education, and a road map for success in the industry.
“Returning to pre-pandemic levels of travel is essentially a ‘when-not-if’ scenario,” Petras said. “And when it occurs, our industry’s collective ability to assist passengers will be dependent on agent preparedness and adaptability. There is no better moment for agents to show their value to passengers than now, and there is no better location than The Travel Institute to assist them in doing so.”
The travel agent certifications is a growing trend in the travel industry. The Travel Institute has seen significant growth in new applications that allow agents to learn and improve their skills.
